The Sierra Club is welcoming a roster of trailblazers to the ball.
The organization is finalizing a program for the 2026 edition of the Trail Blazers Ball, its marquee fundraiser mounted to honor “environmental luminaries and thought leaders to inspire transformative solutions for the planet.” It’s set to take place in Los Angeles on April 8.
The program will see a lifetime achievement award go to veteran politico and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Oscar winner Morgan Freeman will receive a Visionary Award. Media mogul Ted Turner has been tapped to receive a Vanguard Award. Activist Dolores Huerta will receive a Changemaker Award while Dr. Lyla June, Sage Lenier and Our Children’s Trust all will receive a Trail Blazer Award.
“These remarkable people continue to demonstrate that real climate progress depends on fearless and bold leadership,” explained Sierra Club’s executive director Loren Blackford. “Whether through legislation, community organizing, philanthropy, or cultural storytelling, each honoree embodies the strength of collective effort and the urgent need to safeguard our planet for generations to come.”
Added Vicangelo Bulluck, chief of Sierra Club’s Green Ventures and Partnerships who serves as Trail Blazers Ball executive producer: “Now more than ever, we need opportunities to bring us together in community to use the environmental movement’s cultural influence to inspire meaningful change.”
In addition to the ball, the Sierra Club will host other events in Los Angeles during Climate Week and Earth Month like the Sierra Symposium on April 7, and the Sierra Sessions on April 11. The latter is an inaugural music-driven event that will feature performances from “eco-conscious songwriters and storytellers” who use “art to inspire action.” The events will be stream on the Sierra Club’s YouTube channel.
