FBI Releases New Details of Suspect

The FBI has released new details of the suspect they’re looking for in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Savannah Guthrie.

On Thursday, following a forensic analysis of the previously-released doorbell camera footage by the FBI’s Operational Technology Division, investigators determined they’re searching for a man, approximately 5’9” to 5’10” tall, with an average build. They said he was also wearing a black, 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack in the footage.

“We hope this updated description will help concentrate the public tips we are receiving. Since February 1, 2026, the FBI has collected over 13,000 tips from the public related to this case. Every tip is reviewed for credibility, relevance, and information that can be acted upon by law enforcement,” the FBI said.

The federal agency also announced that it increased the reward up to $100,000 for information leading to Guthrie’s location and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.

Earlier this week, the FBI also released a series of surveillance photos and two videos of a potential suspect. In the black-and-white footage, obtained by Nancy’s doorbell and security cameras, a person can be seen wearing a jacket, ski mask and gloves, with a backpack on and a firearm at the waist.

Nancy was last seen by Annie Guthrie’s husband, Tommaso Cioni, when he dropped her off at her home in Tucson on Jan. 31, and was reported missing the following day. Sheriff Chris Nanos quickly shot down reports that Cioni had been identified as a possible suspect, saying at the time that they had not identified a person of interest in the case.

Since then, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has been investigating her disappearance, calling it a “possible kidnapping or abduction.”

A ransom letter was also reportedly sent to TMZ and at least two local news outlets in Arizona early in the investigation, though authorities have yet to directly confirm the ransom note.

However, Savannah Guthrie, along with her brother, Camron Guthrie, and sister, Annie Guthrie, have directly addressed the suspected kidnappers in multiple videos on social media, pleading for their mother to be returned home safely.

“We received your message, and we understand,” Savannah said in one video. “We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”

Sheriff Chris Nanos has said he remains hopeful that Nancy Guthrie is still alive. “We have nothing else to go on but the belief that she is here,” he previously shared. “She’s present. She’s alive, and we want to save her.”

More to come.
